Ambrose, at the scene, takes advantage of the situation, commanding English to subdue Pegasus and then preparing him to assassinate Xiang Ping. Assigning English to be the Prime Minister's bodyguard in place of Pegasus, Ambrose orders him to kill the Chinese Premier using a pistol disguised as lipstick, which had been designed for Pegasus.
However, English resists the drug and prevents himself from shooting the Premier, one hand fighting the other. Tucker arrives and interrupts Ambrose's communication feed to English's earpiece. Ambrose responds by cutting through the interference and accidentally exposes himself as the mastermind to everyone in the process.
English resists Ambrose's reiterated order and tries to shoot him before collapsing while Ambrose flees the scene. With the threat averted, MI7 agents led by Sumner are able to enter the conference chamber where she revives English with a kiss. English then pursues Ambrose down the mountainside and both fight in a cable car.
English manages to overpower Ambrose for a moment but, while backing up, falls out the carriage. Ambrose shoots at English, who tries to use his spy umbrella as a bulletproof shield to no effect. He closes it in frustration, upon which it fires a missile which destroys the cable car, killing Ambrose in a fiery explosion. Later on, Vortex is presumably shut down and English is to have his knighthood reinstated by the Queen. The Killer Cleaner, sneaks in before the ceremony, disguised as the Queen and attempts to kill English.
This leads English to attack the real Queen, a fact he realizes when the Killer Cleaner is brought in a prisoner by the royal guards.
In a post-credits sequence, English is seen making a takeaway meal for Sumner while listening to the tune of "In the Hall of the Mountain King". Universal Pictures first announced that they were producing a sequel to Johnny English on 8 April , seven years after the first film was released. The film received negative to mixed reviews from critics. The website's consensus is "Arguably a marginal improvement on its mostly-forgotten predecessor, Johnny English Reborn nonetheless remains mired in broad, tired spy spoofing that wastes Rowan Atkinson's once considerable comedic talent".
On the Australian television programme At the Movies , Margaret Pomeranz rated the film 3 stars and David Stratton rated the film 2 stars the highest being 5 stars.
The Indian film critic Nikhat Kazmi of Times of India gave the film a positive review, praising Atkinson's characteristic flair for comedy once again, giving it a 4 star rating out of 5.
