Little episodic parts of the game that occur outside of the open game world and inside their own cinematic and narrative controlled game areas that open up progression in the game world and with the story. When a player is disconnected from one of these instances they are not just dumped out of the game, but they also lose all of their progress in that story instance.
In some cases, this progress as hard earned and hard fought, often through frustrating or annoying obstacles that the player overcame in order to move forward. So, after trudging through frustrating and annoying obstacles to have all of that wiped away on a disconnection does not cause them to come back and redouble their efforts. It is demoralizing. GW2 lacks a basic concept of milestones or checkpoints inside of story instances.
This means that if a story instance is 30 minutes long and contains six separate acts and connection is lost at 29 minutes, all of that progress vanishes. The player logs back into GW2 and has to skip the opening cinematic if they can and then skip NPC dialogue or then wait through unskippable in-game scripted events for the entire 30 minutes again.
With how often the ArenaNet servers hiccup — and at the most inopportune times, not just during big releases such as the recent release of the second expansion to the game, Path of Fire — this has become an infuriating thorn in the side of the playerbase. The most bizarre and infuriating part of these disconnects is that they seem to strike at random. Three people on the same network can see one suddenly vanish from the party — disconnected — yet the other two sail smoothly for the entire night.
Please help us ArenaNet, we'd like to play the game again. RIP - Just got kicked to the character screen with a disconnect message, although to be fair that happened fairly often before I was having the actual disconnect issues. My game is even tearing at some points its so bad. I updated video drivers and even trying to uninstall and reinstall client now.
Glad I'm not only person but its really bad to the point I can only go in and play TP but today and last night thats even lagging out!
Wondering if it may due on one of their parts?? I'm on Spectrum. I just had a guildmate who was staying at a family friend's house in Florida say they were having the same issues, but they don't know their friend's ISP. It's entirely possible that it's an ISP related issue, which would still suck because I have no clue how they'd be able to fix it.
Ok Yea i'm on spectrum too. We've had intermitten lag issues before but this is just horribly bad in gw2 lately. I can do anything else on my laptop, just gw2 is almost unplayable. Unfortunately since Spectrum is technically part of Charter its a notch above other reports i hear from other gamers on other games with Charter. It's a very sucky internet company.. I have been having this problem for a while, and haven't been able to get beyond the log in screen today.
Well hopefully the issue gets resolved soon. What's interesting is that there's people running into this same issue and they don't have Spectrum or live in this state either.
Maybe there's a bad physical connection somewhere that we're all getting routed through? I don't know If you need help with how to do that please see this link from the GW2Wiki. We are trying accumulate as much information as we can for ArenaNet to pinpoint and solve these problems and the more feedback we give them, the better chance we have of getting this all solved sooner.
Im playing on EU, same issues. Even the tracert is almost the same. Only difference is that my connection goes trough 3 ncsoft routers which are causing packet loss. Ive created a ticket before 3 days, no response yet. Are you guys still experiencing the high latency? High ping for me still, playing from the Philippines. Been having this same problem all week. Just constant pingspikes no matter what I am doing. Getting up to 4. I was in Kessex Hills and getting massive ping spikes and I'm in Texas.
From Singapore here, getting the same problem as of late. All my IPs appear as private ones and I get very frequent disconnects in-game. My connection appears to be fine, it's really fast even on other games. One thing I've observed so far is that sometimes, there is no latency issue at all even with the private IP.
The problem can persist for awhile but I haven't really measured it as I'd just quit and come back to it much later. I can only remember latency kicking in during zergs in WvW, but it could be coincidental since that's what I've been playing mostly.
The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again. Posted by: Inculpatus cedo. Inculpatus cedo.
Ty Inculpates. I had submitted a ticket. ID This is a very frustrating game experience. Posted by: Healix.
