The connecting road of the town, The Mall, bustles with locals and vacationers during morning and evening hours. South Shimla has a market cascading steeply down to the cart road.

From mid-July to mid-September, it is covered with a snow blanket making it a muse for all nature lovers. Shimla is blissfully surrounded by the green hills with snowcapped peaks. Shimla district derives its name from Shimla town which was once a small village. Shimla district in its present form came into existence from 1st Sept, on the reorganisation of the districts of the state. The former summer capital of the British in India, and the present capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla has been blessed with all the natural bounties which one can think of. It has got a scenic location, it is surrounded by green hills with snow capped peaks.
